KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- The Dewan Rakyat Wednesday allowed an emergency motion to debate the recent Genting Sempah bus tragedy which claimed seven lives and left 39 others injured.
Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Ronald Kiandee said he was allowing the motion moved by Er Teck Hwa (DAP-Bakri) because it was specific, urgent and of public interest.
He set aside one hour from 4.30pm to debate the motion, 30 minutes for MPs and 30 minutes for the government to reply.
Er had also called for a Royal Commission of Inquiry to be set up to probe this bus tragedy and also an earlier one in Simpang Ampat, Negeri Sembilan in which 13 express bus passengers lost their lives.
